  Sweden, 1985, 72 min, 16 mm, colour, 1:1.37
  Director: Håkan Alexandersson

Doctor Blom's work entails the placing of small children in good homes after seperating them from their so-called unworthy mothers. Little Lisa is brutally taken away from her home where she runs a laundramat together with her mother, Mona. The laundramat is technically a miracle of steam, gauges and overflowing suds that is very tiring for Mona.

Many upset viewers filed complaints after the controversial television series, "Private-eye Kant". Alexandersson & De Geer were blackballed at Swedish Television even though they were aquited from all the accusations directed towards them (blasphemy, alcohol-propaganda,etc.). So, instead of the planned series about the middle-ages, they took the sets from Kant and cunningly transformed them into a new environment to be used for "The Laundramat", a saga wherein comedy and grave issues are readilly mixed.

Doctor Blom has chosen the elegant singer, Miss Bluchner as a more suitable mother for Lisa. It is at this point that the two bums, Bill and Sture are drawn into the story as they hang out on the courtyard one day, playing their washboard and accordian.

Lisa longs for home and the laundramat, Blom longs to get married to Miss bluchner, the bums long for the open skies and Mona longs for her daughter. Many tears and suds flow until these dreams come true.

The bum, Bill and Doc Blom are played by the same person. Amongst other things, the fact that Miss bluchner is played by a large man confirms the insane tone of this production.
